Growing, learning, improving<br />I've spent the last 9 years working as an artist in the field of special effects, specialising in sculpting and moulding. prior to that I was a joiner/carpenter for 10 years.
  1. it is well documented, that madness and genius often go hand in hand
  2. I've always tended towards hot lemon juice followed by a pumice rub, repeated as necessary
  3. Pah! Photoshop!!! Just kidding
  4. it's not letting me remain logged in at all!! Every time I go to a new page it logs me out!
  5. “We are told that talent creates its own opportunities. Yet, it sometimes seems that intense desire creates not only its own opportunities but also its own talents as well” Bruce Lee Nothing wrong with obsession; Most people either copy or follow the paths of others, it is only through obsession that we can create new paths. A little obsession is healthy.
  6. Can we change your name to Columbo, Kev? Sounds fascinating
  7. getting and egg normous sense of satisfaction as it comes together, just got to save up a few quid for the motor/inverter/speed controller package
  8. Just in case it isn't stout enough, I've left an option to put an extra plate between the uprights to stiffen it further if necessary The variable frequency drives that I've seen only go up to 2.2kw, so that means the freebie 3kw/3ph motor can't be used on a 1ph supply. So it's a 2.2kw and variable frequency drive that I'll be saving up for
  9. Not far to go!! I just need the tool arm and a motor and some belts!!!!
  10. What did you use on the bottom of the stack? Was it the usual mix? looks like bonding plaster!!
  11. Should have used some of Colin's hair on that furnace! Get a hair cut ya girl!
  12. Graphite powder is available as an additive to resins from resin suppliers (it reduces friction, say for boat hulls, etc.) http://www.cfsnet.co.uk/cgi-local/sh000001...tml%23a589#a589 also do graphite fibre strands http://www.cfsnet.co.uk/cgi-local/sh000001...tml%23a672#a672 Niko, I would have thought that if you put the graphite powder in first and your iron chips on top then the iron will hold the powder down until it starts melting, as the whole pot starts melting, the graphite will slowly rise through the iron, hopefully impregnating it evenly ..
  13. Why not add the graphite as a powder rather than a chunk so that it distributes more evenly?
  14. Damn & Blast my cunning plan foiled! The motor is a freebie, practically new and pulled off a job. Trouble is I can't get a an inverter/speed controller bigger than 2.2kw.
