  4. For 5160 yes, it leaves it soft for a knife, but since this is a bottle opener, I don't really have any issues with it. Maximum temperature for 5160 should be 275C. Since for O1 and 52100 the optimum is 300C, you can use those steels for a knife. I'm planning on make some colored knives in a bit, these coming weeks are going to be mostly forging weeks, so it'll take me some time to finish them, but I'll post pictures whe I'm done Ariel

  11. I put a teaspoon of potassium permanganate into 1 liter of water and put it on the fire til it boils. Once it boils, I turn off the fire and put the stag on it. I leave it there for about 30 minutes. Then you use a 400 grit sandpaper if you want to get some white / dark color or just use a polishing cloth, as you prefer. Ariel

  17. Thanks for understanding! I got some questions about my website... I'm not taking it down or anything like that! In fact I'll be adding more content to it as I keep working and making new stuff. Nothing's gonna change other than not taking orders for knives for some time Thanks again! Ariel I don't really keep track, and it depends A LOT on the type of knife and if I'm making other items too. Check out my website, that plus another 100 knives or so, is the work of about 4-5 years Ariel
  18. My dear friends, Since it's April 1st, please let me assure you this is not an April's Fool joke When in 2004 I ventured into the online knife forums I had no idea of the kind of reception I was going to get from people around the world. Things went OK for some time and then they started to go really well in terms of knife orders and work requests. Then I started to make other items in addition to the knives and people got interested in that type of work too. Now in 2009, I would like to offer my most sincere THANK YOU to all of you for the continued support all these years
