  2. Hey, quick question... What steel would be best to use for a crossbow prod? I know most would probably work ok if it is given a proper spring temper, but I am looking for something a little more specific.

      No, it is too strong. Weak acids: very dilute ferric chloride, lemon juice, and vinegar work better. Multiple cycles, cleaning oxides off, between, are necessary.

  4. Quick question about leatherworking: does the thread have to be any special, extra-tough thing? Or will plain sowing thread work?

      Waxed linen is the standard. Linen does not stretch like synthetics and is very strong.
