  3. Here is a nice rememberance that was in the Richmond newspaper: http://www2.timesdispatch.com/lifestyles/2011/dec/03/tdobit02-service-held-for-ronald-frazier-of-powhat-ar-1510592/
  4. It's with great sadness that I post that I lost my best friend tonight. Ron Frazier, my mentor and friend passed away at 9:00 p.m. If you knew him and even if you didn't, his influence in the handmade knife world was monumental. I miss him.
  5. Rumour had it that the "Gem of the Orient" was the first $1,000,000 modern handmade knife. I seem to recall that a Japanese tycoon commisned Buster to make another King Tut knife and Buster being the man of honor that he was refused but suggested an equally ornate gold and jewel encrusted knife.
  6. Not very good pic of the "backside":
  7. A couple of pics of my newly completed Bowie Knife. 440C Stainless blade, Nickel Silver guard pieces and handle nut, Cocobolo handle. (Small inlay of ivory in center of handle nut. Overall length 14 1/4". Blade lenghth 9 1/2.
  8. Stephen, You are absolutely correct! It an abstract rendition based on a squid. I actually called it my "Squid Knife" as a working title. Sometimes I affectionately called it "Squiddy". Anyway...you get the "A" for the day. Thank you.
  9. I'm in. Can I change from Mike R. to Mike Ruslander? Thank you.
  10. If I may ask, and I hope that my terminology is correct, is the Ana (the hole that the tang of the blade fits through), and consequently the tang itself always a standard size? I see the shape is consistent, but tsuba makers probably always don't have a blade handy to mate the tsuba to when creating this funtional piece of art. Thank you.
