  1. I live a little over an hour away, but if you get something planned just let me know. I think it would be awesome to check out someone else's setup.
  2. Made this one from 1080. It's 10 inches overall. 4.5 inch handle. 5.5 inch blade. 2.5 inch clip. Edge quenched. Handle is homemade micarta with stainless tubes as pins. Great grip and really feels like a solid knife. Sheath is made from 8oz leather. SOLD
  3. I think that may just be a trick the camera is playing. Maybe the angle I took the pictures at. Thanks for the comments!
  4. Made this one from 1080. It's 10 inches overall. 4.5 inch handle. 5.5 inch blade. 2.5 inch clip is sharpened. I tried to do a clay heat treat but no luck bringing out a hamon. I guess those come with time. Also made the Micarta for the handles. Stainless tubes for pins. I even tried my hand at a sheath. Thanks for looking!
  5. I have some 1/4'' thick 1075. It's 2'' in width if you're interested.
  6. Thanks guys for all the answers. I have a few steel distributors in the area so I'll give them a shot. Time to do some reading!
  7. Hello all! Great community here and I hope I can bring some things to the table while learning the craft. I have a question for now: A few years ago I bought a 4' long flat bar of steel from lowe's. I'm trying to identify the type of steel it may be. All that I can find on the little tag it has is weld steel. I can't find any info on weld steel and figure it just may be another name for a certain type. Any help would be appreciated!
