  1. That's really cool, looks like a claw. (I like claws)
  2. Hey, this questions is probably totaly off topic but, How much of a curve do you think should be on a blade like that? I'm working on my first one too and thought I'd ask before I went through with the heat treating. Right now the spine's about 23 inches with a 1 inch height at the center point when it's on it's back.
  3. Hooks, a few knives, maybe some wire statues. Pretty much anything metal.
  4. I'm to cheap to buy stainless steel so I mostly use iron for the things I make. Sadly though, they all start to rust eventually. Is there some kind of easy treatment I could do on them for not a lot of money? Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â ~Kirk~ p.s. I don't really have the best or any tools.
  5. You're right, who would care about some kid in Ohio selling stuff? I didn't think of that, I was just a little paranoid about taxes because my mom has to pay sales taxes for her "buisness" of reflexology and she doesn't even have an office. Thanks for the input.

    Selling Knives

I need some extra money to go to summer camp this year and thought of selling simple knives for cheap. Do you need a vendors licence for this? Could I get put in jail for tax fraud? I don't know.
  7. Well, I'm planning on nailing it to a rather large tree stump. It might also help to quiet it down a little, to keep the neighbors happy. :banghead:
  8. Yes, that's a good idea using hemp. I wouldn't want the leather and steel to get together and conspire against me. So I'm going to use hemp. All I need to do now is heat treat it and it'l be done pretty soon now.

  11. I'm still working on this one, but it's far enough along to get the idea. I used zinc plated steel. I made this knife with the idea of fishing in my head, so I added a hook on the back to cut line with. Instead of polishing it I think I'll just leave it the temper color (light blue) and only polish the blade edge. For the handle I'm thinking some kind of leather braid would be nice.
  12. I wouldn't hold the magnet in the fire long at all. When magnets are heated they lose their magnetizm.
  13. Success! I've found something suitable! I remember when I was younger, about 5 years ago, I was walking on a trail and found an old railroad plate. I was going through my garrage today and found it. It will need some polishing and rust removal but I think it will do o.k. P.S. I'll let you know if it falls apart with one hit
  14. Theres another post in this area with a Metallurgy link. On that site they talk about deep cryogenic freezing and stuff. I think you should go there.
