  I sure you all know, but be careful with heavy hammers. Especially if its been a little bit since you swung a hammer. I speak from experience. The new several months will be no fun for you.

  I use bailing wire from home depot, and since I started straightening the wire before wrapping/making sure I have sharp bends. I haven't had issue with the billet moving around. I enjoy doing the forge work solo with no press, but I might enjoy it more if it didn't take an hour or 2 between folds><.

I successfully forge welded a billet with twice as many starting layers then I've ever done. 18 layers measuring 4x1x3. I'm a very happy guy especially since it ended up being one of the cleanest welds I've done to date. Sadly I have no pics pre weld>

  I'm aiming for a 8inch integral chefs knife with laddered Ws with enough extra material to make something for myself, but I'm already breaking the third rule of blacksmithing><
