hi gents, i come to you with a new inquiry... i want to make a kitchen knife. a chefs knife to be exact out of 5160 steel... i need all the necessary info to accomplish this task, -is there is anything that needs to be done during the forge grind normalization, quench, temper etc that i need to know, that is different from forging a hunting knife? -does anyone have a preferred video or tutorial they can share??? -would you rather do it out of 5160 o 1095 steel. which is the best choice out of the two (that's the only types i have) i can procure stainless. so that's out of the question... And if I could get any steel what would be your reccos for chefs knives?? Your ultimate go to steel, that is not a pain to forge and quench of course. thanks a million.

Recently finished a simple EDC for myself, for once! 5160 blade with a ferric chloride forced patina, Wenge handle scales, and stainless pins. I don't normally grind out my hammer marks or completely get rid of forge scale, because it's my preferred aesthetic, but I figured I might as well play with it.

Waterjet and then forged 5160 spring steel with integral guard. Autumn leaves and lavender cast into the handle window. Also part of the series is a ram and boar's head, so keep an eye out for those coming up soon Let me know what yall think, Theo

Just forged this beast up from a chunk of leaf spring, this photo is just after profile grinding. I kind of made this on a whim, I started with a drop point camp knife in mind but it just evolved into this. I do not currently have a plan for the level of polish, fittings or handle so I am up to your suggestions. Thanks for the help all

Howdy fine folks, Well it has been an eternity since I have last posted. I have made many knives since my last post and will post them in due time, however for now I would just like to post this sword and leather that I have been working on. The leather was partially made from a hundred year old saddle, and it smelt great.... This He-Man sword replica is 35" overall with a hollow grind and is made from 5160 leaf spring steel. It has a wire wrapped handle over wax thread wrapped oak slabs. This was my first sword and I hope you enjoy. "I have the powerrrrrr!!!!"
