A Sen-Dai is an workbench functioning with wedges to clamp work pieces down or sideways. especially useful for operations like polishing the surfaces of blades. The bench is very easy to build and requires minimal woodworking/blacksmithing skill. something on the level of a weekend project :"P

They always say (and I whole heartedly agree) that a minute at the forge is worth an hour at the grinder. In the spirit of teaching myself better hammer control and a few new techniques I decided to make a cube twist bottle opener for my old man. Some things can't be done at a grinder anyway... I've never really done any pure blacksmithing work and figured it was as good a time as any to start. Corners were about what I thought they would be, but it was the cube twist that really opened my eyes. In all, it's incredibly easy to do, and when I started twisting, it was like magic! I had to make a punch for the tab that actually opens the bottle as well as a drift for the ring in the back before I could fit it over the bickern. Loads of great things learned with this one, and it actually works! More than anything though, it was good to get some time at the forge Cheers! John
