  1. Haven’t posted anything in awhile, I did this Damascus Bowie with antler handle. It’s a through tang with a threaded pommel. The guard is brass to match. I have done some other Bowie like this without as much clip and no ricasso. I like the feel of it. The Damascus is a whopping three layer twist and I practiced some vine filework on the top. Sheath is a 10oz Sheridan style carved one seam construction.
  2. Hi there I would like to have news about these two bowies, which I got hold of. They have two marks on the blade. thank you very much
  3. Copy I made of an original 19th century Bowie by the Memphis Novelty Works. Hand forged and ground blade Fifteen inch long with both hollow and convex grinds, aged to match the original. Hand cast bronze sturrip-hilt and mahogany grip. Tinsmithed scabbard with leather lining and pinstriped japaning. www.irontreeforge.com
  4. This is my latest Bowie. Hand forged from 1095 high carbon steel. The guard is from 1018 mild steel. The handle is Sonoran Desert Ironwood. The overall length is 15-1/4 inches.
  5. Last year when I was getting my level C welding ticket, my instructor found out that I make knives, and wanted to see what I'd made. When I showed him a few all he said was "Make me one and I'll buy it". He wanted a bowie of some kind, but otherwise gave me free reign. He just wanted a unique knife from a local craftsman. So I got to have some fun, and just go with the flow as I progressed through each stage of it. And I'm quite happy with it! I hadn't made a knife in over a year so I'm glad it turned out, and now I'm back on the train, looking to start my next project.
  6. Hey, I'm Jim, I'm a new user to the forum, and I'd like to hear any critique on my work. I've been doing this for a little while, but there is always new stuff to learn. This is the child of a bowie knife and a persian knife (not really sure as to the name) It was intended to be just a bowie, but I forged the tip a little thin, but I think I like it. Steel is from a buggy spring, It had good sparks and hardened well in oil, tempered back to a brown-purple color. I'm not quite finished, but I thought I'd show what I had. Blade is about 11 inches, the handle about 5.5.
