  1. I did this with an angle grinder switching between a low grit and high grit wheel. I used a cutting wheel to get the rough shape. It is, unfortunately a mild steel but nonetheless it is my first blade. Criticism is not only welcome but encouraged. Thank you.
  2. Hi guys I'm new to the forum have only been making knives for a couple of months, I thought you might want to see my first attempt, Made from 1075+cr and hardened and tempered in my converted gas cylinder coal forge. Forge scale was left on intentionally as I though it was "different" The scales are special to me, the were made from an oak branch that was cut from a tree in my garden, the tree was grown from an acorn about 25 years ago by my son, so as I said special to me. I gave the knife to my son this Christmas and he loves it I've started the next project a Tanto, but with 6 bevels to file and get symmetrical it's proving to be quite a B #@ch! Perhaps I should have finished the belt grinder first!!
  3. This is my first attempt at making a blade. I decided to go with some cheap mild steel for the first few so I can save a little money while I work out my initial flaws in technique. The first few blades were bound to be less than desirable. The over all length is 8" Blade is 4" Handle is 4" The wood is just a chunk of wood from the backyard.. No sense in getting crazy on the practice run. I pinned it using some old .22 caliber bullet shells just because I had them laying around. I thought I'd attempt some filework just for the practice. I'd really appreciate some feed back, Thanks..
