  1. This is not a question but I thought this might be the right place to show how I setup my forge. You are free to comment! So there you go: - I used James Spurgeon's design for the ventury burner. It was quite easy as every component self aligned the burner tip right in the middle of the pipe. It has been harder however to find black iron pipes and fittings here in Canada. Got them from Acklands. Do not use galvanized steel. It will reek toxic fumes. - The horizontal propane tank pattern seamt to be the most versatile so I went for it. DO PURGE THE TANK PROPERLY BY REMOVING THE VALVE
  2. Hello, I finished making a new Propane Tank forge with 2 Frosty's T burners. The video link below is the first time I've ran them and I was wondering if I could get some advice on how they look. https://streamable.com/jtz1o They were probably running for about 10 minutes when I took the video and that is at 5 psi. The propane tank is 3" kaowool, coated in kast-o-lite 30, and then painted with ITC-100 Frosty's T-burner Instructions: http://www.blacksmither.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/T-Burner-Directions-finished-1.pdf Thank you,
  3. Hey all, I have gotten a lot of questions locally about my self built forge burner, so I figured I would post some pictures here as well. I designed this burner based on a hybrid of a blower burner and a Venturi burner. My original intent was to use it as a Venturi burner until I could put together a blower assembly for it, but it works so well I have never bothered to do the blower. Standard disclaimer: I can not be responsible for your actions! Please build responsibly! Propane is flammable and in just the wrong mix it is explosive! DO NOT attempt to build a propane burner without fir
  4. Afternoon everyone, I am starting the assembly of my forge this weekend once my burners show up, I was wondering what the simplest way to apply the Kast- o lite to the inside of the ceramic wool? I would prefer to apply it directly to the wool as opposed to casting a cylinder separately and putting it inside of the wool... Can I just dampen the wool and use my hands (wearing gloves obviously) to apply a few thin layers, and work it up to 3/8-1/2" or so?
  5. Okay, I finally got it fabricated, insulated, and put together. It's made from a 30# propane tank, 16" long, 12" in diameter, and lined with 2" thick kaowool coated with satanite and ITC100. It's got three 3/4" burners spaced 5" apart from centers. The gas goes in through 0.030" mig tips. I used bell reducers for the nozzles. So I fired it up for the first time and noticed several things. It shoots flames out both ends significantly, like about a foot high. I can only run the center burner without flames just blowing out both ends. Second issue is that when I try to run the burners hotter, the
