  2. First let me say that, yes, I am brand new to bladesmithing and all other types of metal work. Second, I apologize if this topic is already posted somewhere else, I simply do not have the time right now to look through all the posts for a specific post. Now that that's out of the way, I would like to know if it would be possible to strengthen (via heat-treating or some other method) a katana blade that a friend made for me. It is made from carbon steel, has been folded 5-6 times (I cannot remember for sure), and as far as I know it has not been strengthened in any way yet. I also bou
  3. Hey guys, I friend sent me a CARSON folder. Needs to be re-built. I think someone put locktite on the pivot screw, it just turns. Anybody know someone that re-builds CARSON ? The lock up if loose, side to side on the blade, is filthy inside. Thank you, Jim
  4. OK age old question; to repair or not to repair. I purchased an c1830 Mouse Hole anvil a few years ago and have been using it extensively for bladesmithing. It has a great ring and fantastic rebound, so I don't want to jeopardise that! It has a large chip out of the face, which I can generally work arround since it is a fairly large face. It would be nice to fill in that chunck and clean up some of the chipped edges though, if I can do so without ruining the rest of the face in the process. Comments or suggestions appreciated! James
