guarnera 2
Now, I don't want to step on anyones toes, or insult anyones integrity, but what do you all thing the definition of a camp knife is? When I took the basic forging class at the ABS school, the teacher was Hanford Miller. He was a neighbor and friend of Bill Moran, and learned most of what he knew from Bill. As far as I know Bill Moran was kind of the father of the camp knife. Hanford showed us the 3 types of camp knives that Moran made, and told us that a camp knife should have at least a 10" blade and be designed for being used around the camp,to including cutting meat to chopping wood. Since then I have seen just about every conceivable size and shape blade called a camp knife. So what exactly is a camp knife? Tony G
GEzell 143
It's a knife you take camping. For some folks it's a big wood-chopper, for others it's a small utility. I carry a small hatchet and a machete at the camp, so mine is sorta small by Moran's standards. Sam Salvati 80
Tony, GREAT QUESTION! My personal definition of a camp knife is best summed up by the knife made in Tim and Marion Lively's video, serviceable point, broad blade good for chopping but not a KSA(knife shaped axe), 9-12 inch blade, tough. Let not the swords of good and free men be reforged into plowshares, but may they rest in a place of honor; ready, well oiled and God willing unused. For if the price of peace becomes licking the boots of tyrants, then "To Arms!" I say, and may the fortunes of war smile upon patriots
