John Smith
I have been busy these past weeks. The first dagger is made of Aldos 1084 with a nickle silver guard and plain steel butt cap and walnut handle. The second dagger is made from an olf file and is roughly 10 inches of blade and total with tang of 15 inches. The next blade is some of Aldos W-2 forged and heat treated the hamon is beautiful, I started the polish yesterday. The next blade is a forged tanto made from a high carbon rail road spike. I have had som problems heat treating it though, I had hoped to see a hamon, but the initial polish revealed nothing so I re-treated it and ended up with more sori than I wanted, i will post a ned picture of it after the polish as i figure it has a hard edge since I got so mush sori. The next blade is finished and in nice wood settings I have no idea what type of wood it is, so any input on this is appriciated. The steel is again some of Aldos w-2 and the hamon is beautiful on this as well, and it is very sharp this blade is for sale as well pm me if interested. The last is my sword that I have been working on for some time, the steel is W-2 from Don Hanson Thanks for looking and please let me know what you guys and girls think about my work. Sam Salvati
Damn John, you HAVE been busy! I love the sword (of course:))! Great knives too, the yari type spear is very cool as well. great work and GOOD to have you back John. Let not the swords of good and free men be reforged into plowshares, but may they rest in a place of honor; ready, well oiled and God willing unused. John Smith
Ah Bob I am the ever reclusive forger I have a farmers tan on my arms and the rest of me have been labeled the white ghost. I had wanted my girlfriend to pose with the sword but she is self conscience of her being with child and all. I actually just forge a sunobe, I am working on another wakizashi type blade. But thanks guys as I finish these blades I will post more picts, but not until after I move into my new shop, to which it is huge and the military did not spare any expense in this building all, high grade electrical with a huge 200 amp breaker box, and all the juice I can use. Plus the engineers here will drop any outlets that I need and all the florescence lights that I can use. John W Smithwww.smith-forge.orgFire and wind come from the sky, from the gods of the sky. Bob Ouellette
John, I know all about the forge-white legs I'm a little too white for living near the beach. So you're moving into a new shop? Sounds great. Bob O "When I raise my flashing sword, and my hand takes hold on judgment, I will take vengeance upon mine enemies, and I will repay those who haze me. John Smith
Bob the new shop is a very welcome environment for me, as I have run out of space at my old shop and the new shop is 4 times as big. Plus it has better power along with it being an old military building so it is solid to the core. I will post pictures once I get settled in. Bob Ouellette
Those old Military buildings are great. Though, I can tell you that any sound in a concrete box gets amplified (my school is on an old Navy base for the shop area) I look forward to seeing the pictures.
