Well dag nab it!

I missed my chance to mention I was only curious in what the effect of the residue of borax that was left in a billet does?

This forum has the most OUTSTANDING minds paticipating on it!

so you guys know if anyone does!

See if we get those pesky molecules really dancing at welding heat does the trace elements of borax cause them to slow?, speed up?, attract more?, detract,

should we add something else to it to REALLY enhance the welding.

How about adding some kind of magnetic field to it?

maybe a powdered metal mixture...

That's kinda of where my mind was when I asked.

If we could just get those lazy angels to stop dancing on the pinhead and get back to work doing the forge-welds for us...

I think I'm the reason Don made us have a Time-Out, Tai.

( Why do I feel like Tai and I are 10 year old brothers and Dad made us go to our rooms?   :)  )

I had a girlfriend who got really sick from chemical exposures and my mother has really serious allergies from childhood exposures.  As a result of watching doctors do as much guesswork as anyone else I learned that one has to educate oneself when it comes to art / occupational hazards.  There's rarely a documentable study on most of the things we do as bladesmiths or artists.  The eye-protection discussions on the CKD were a great example.  Lots of people had lots to say, and some were quite right in the end, but until I saw documentation from a scientific / academic source I wasn't going to take *anyone's* word.  ( These guys are great, btw: www.auralens.com I still need to order mine. )

...and I am so not going near religion.

I have been a Grumpasaurus Rex lately.

The world had been making me angry.  :banghead:

Sure weren't nobody here though.  I just jumped into that thread because I was grumpy.

I need to step back all the way to the days of backpack & new countries; or perhaps bike & open road.  Love / hate blades... my only true calling.  Nothing else to do but keep going... bang, bang, bang, grind, grind, grind, polish, polish, bang, bang, bang...

Bladesmithing IS religion.  :)

Chop wood, carry water.

You're kooky, Tai!   :P  :)
