here is a cable katana I made last year and finally had time to finish. The blade is 29 inches long and is marquenched with water brine. The handle is 12 inches long and is made of ash with a full ray skin wrap with brass fittings and my own wrap i've been working on.Tsuba is made of steel my own design. The saya is made of poplar with steel fittings on both ends. It is a beefy blade and razor sharp hope you like.

Beautiful work, Love the hamon.

Or any other man's,

Nor that I will be ashamed

Of my work torn hands-

For I have chosen the path I tread

Knowing it would be steep,

And I will take the joys thereof

And the consequences reap.

Fire and wind come from the sky, from the gods of the sky. But Crom is your god, Crom and he lives in the earth. Once, giants lived in the Earth, Conan. And in the darkness of chaos, they fooled Crom, and they took from him the enigma of steel. Crom was angered. And the Earth shook. Fire and wind struck down these giants, and they threw their bodies into the waters, but in their rage, the gods forgot the secret of steel and left it on the battlefield. We who found it are just men. Not gods. Not giants. Just men. The secret of steel has always carried with it a mystery. You must learn its riddle, Conan. You must learn its discipline. For no one - no one in this world can you trust. Not men, not women, not beasts.

Wow! Love that hamon...and the profile of the blade is very nice. The whole thing just looks aggressive =).

Two questions though....

First, how do you marquench into water/brine? I thought marquenching was quenching the blade in to a medium that is just above martensite start? Just looking to learn something =).

Second...do you have a link to higher resolution images? That blade's stunning =).

Very awesome Neil, thanks!

Let not the swords of good and free men be reforged into plowshares, but may they rest in a place of honor; ready, well oiled and God willing unused. For if the price of peace becomes licking the boots of tyrants, then "To Arms!" I say, and may the fortunes of war smile upon patriots

Thank-you for the compliment, not sure what you mean by traditional handle. I like to stay away from the whole traditional thing usually starts arguments. And I never claim to do so with my blades.
