MrBaz 1
So in shaping and finishing one of my handles, the micarta comes out more of a greyish color. I haven't 'polished' it yet. Does it really need a polish to be as black as it is supposed to be? Maybe I am shaping/finishing on the wrong side of the slab?
Beau Erwin 2
Most of my homemade micarta tends to always come out much lighter before you get it sanded down further, especially the rough grits, I guess it's just the fiber fluffing up. So it might be kinda the same way. Beau Erwin www.ErwinKnives.com Custom knives Bcarta Composites Stabilized Woods
Simon Attwood 1
the finer you go, the darker it will get. Some people prefer it rougher because it adds grip, but it doesn't look as pretty (not that micarta is very pretty compared to wood anyway ) "When our eyes see our hands doing the work of our hearts, the circle of Creation is completed inside us, the doors of our souls fly open and love steps forth to heal everything in sight." JCWalker 0
Wipe it with wd40 to see actual color, the dust makes it look lighter. My Knives
