hi guys!

after a long time without new piece (I had a lot of problems in the beginning of this new year, with a new power hammer,...), here is Faërie. This is a 9 1/2 inch knife, with a damascus blade of 280 layers. (15n20/1075 and a steel with 1,3% of carbon). A bronze guard , a carved box elder burl and a carved ivory Elf.

I like it. The carving and the wood go well together. Nice fit on the wood and ivory too. Jim

I love the shape of the blade. Tutorial!!! Great work on the ivory and burl, too.

Love topless elves.

Pity we can't get much in the way of ivory in North America.

Thanks at all!

jared, I don't know for the hours...something like 3 weeks of work.

A tutorial for the shape, why not, but it's very simple: I use the angle of the wheel of the grinder.

Adlai, yes of course I do, but I don't show it!

Cprokopp, it's really difficult in France too! It's possible to work professionaly elephant ivory but it's really complicate, and it's really difficult to find elephant ivory with a CITES number...

I prefer to work mammoth ivory but I don't find any good piece since 8 month...

Another fine knife paired with another fine carving.

I could see this piece in an art museum hundreds of years from now, priceless.
