J. Helmes
thanks again guys. chuck .. I think I just might. I'm unsure wether it will be leather or wood though.. I did wind up in the shop welding another blade up tonight though, so it may be on a back burner for a bit. thanks , Jeff http://www.jeffhelmes.com
Stewart Light
Hi Jeff, Can I ask what pattern each bar consists of please. Was it four bars - two straight & two twisted? J. Helmes
hi stew, that blade is made from origonaly a single 50 layer billet I rounded it off and twisted half of it. it looks like its made from more than one bar as the edge bar had the corners forged in and rounded over somewhat. cheers Jeff http://www.jeffhelmes.com
jipp
the pattern looks great. the carving work is fantastic too.. over all great knife. thanks for sharing.. chris. i could complain but who would listen. chris.

So it's two bars? (from the same bar initially) This is the joint line? The edge is twisted and the spine was left as straight layers but the slight rounding of the corners has changed the pattern to give the wide band down the center? Is that right? Stewart Light
Thanks Jeff. I find it a bit mind boggling deconstructing the patterns sometimes. Cheers, Stew. stewartjlight.atchoo.org stewartjlight-knives.blogspot.com
J. Helmes
hi stew I mis read your earlier post. the edge is the straight layered billet and the spine is the twisted one. Its not a seax but I can see why it would look like one. but I dont see why you couldnt do it the other way arount if you want http://www.jeffhelmes.com

It's because you've got a couple of upside down shots and someone said it was Seaxy. Mike Sheffield
Its sooo pretty. My life is like shaving with a razor sharp machete. It's a bit awkward and I feel a sting every now and then, but in the end I'm happy with the results.
