Robert Dark
My son, who is almost 40, has been out of work with a busted ankle for a few weeks and decided that he wanted to try his hand at making a knife. Well, here is his first attempt. He is the sole author of this blade. (all I did was bark instructions and help him clean up the grind lines.) He also made the sheath. What'cha think? GEzell
He is the sole author of this blade. (all I did was bark instructions and help him clean up the grind lines.) He also made the sheath. That reminds me of my own father teaching me how to do a few things, brought a real smile to my face... Very nicely done, he has a good teacher. Robert Dark
That reminds me of my own father teaching me how to do a few things, brought a real smile to my face... Very nicely done, he has a good teacher. If it were not for my dad taking time to show me "STUFF", I don't know where I would be today. I guess the main thing he taught me was that "If other folks can do it, ......... You can too, and maybe even better". My son thanks you all for the kind comments. He is a little too much like his Daddy.......... Hard headed as the devil. Robert Dark Custom Knives
jdsmith02115
That knife looks as though it was made by someone who really uses knives a lot. It's just so...practical. Anyone...anywhere in the world would be able to pick that knife up and use it immediately without any talk or explanation. It's simply a universal archetype. I like it very much. Ally
Very impressive first attempt. Unfortunately, in our house I think it is my second daughter who will be taking up the forging torch from dad (Smith-Forge), and not our son. Victoria will go to the shop with Daddy any chance she gets, and just loves being shown the power equiptment and Daddy's latest project(s). Oh, by the way, she's just turned 2! Yeah, that's right... she's even picked up a hammer and tried it on some scrap steel (not heated, mind you). Either way, you should be very proud of your son. The leather sheath is beautiful in it's simplicity, as is the blade itself. Lovely sillouette. It's almost sort of sexy in it's stark beauty. Nice job! ~Allyson
