Wade Hougham
This blade was crafted from a Swordfish bill. The blade is 10.5" long and the total length is 16.5". The handle is elk antler with a piece of buffalo horn. The original bill was 36" long. I wanted to make a sword out of it but it was very crooked. So this is what I ended up with. Hope you enjoy and sorry I couldn't forge it. Wade Jos et löydä rauhaa itsestämme on turhaa etsiä sitä muualta. If you can not find peace within yourself, it is useless to look elsewhere. Noah Sobolewski
Is it sharp? I've always wondered how useful bone knives are I'm inspired, and aspire, before some of you retire, to work with steel and fire and make tools that you'll admire. JJ Simon
This is really cool. Question: Can you use this material for handle slabs?

Is this a new, trend for you?, cause that's about the coolest thing I've ever seem Aldo No Aldo I need the 1084 all I have left from the last batch is a 12" piece, just trying to make it until the new stuff is ready. I do have one more fish bill to work with. Thanks for the comment. Wade Chuck, good observation. It is a roo hide I picked up on a recent trip to Oz. Thanks for your reply. JJ, I was told that you can split it in two and use for slabs. I will try it out down the road a bit. Noah, It has a natural edge on it that I wouldn't consider sharp compared to a metal or stone blade. jipp, glad you like it and thanks for the response. Adlai, Just being me/different. Thanks Kyle, I didn't read the book but you came up with a nice name. DUNE it is. Thanks Alan, I bow to you. Thanks for all of the nice words. Jeroen Zuiderwijk
Is it sharp? I've always wondered how useful bone knives are There's a reason that in Dutch bone and dull are the same word (bot) Looks quite useful for building iglos though! Dick Sexstone
Wade, I agree that is very "Duneish" .... you did a nice job ....very cool Is the end you used have a solid core? The other end that you didn't use ,how far in does the hollow go? looks like it would make a nice sheath ..... Dick

Wade Hougham
Dee, I am glad you like it. It was a fun one to make. Jeroen, I might have trouble selling this one, South Florida is far away from igloo country. Dick, I did think about using what was left for the sheath and could do it with alot of work. It would need to be split and shimed to be able to fit a blade into it. I am thinking about using ray skin for the sheath now. Michael, Thanks for the nice comment. Now if I could get those type of comments from my steel blades I would be in heaven. Thanks to everyone for the replies. Wade Wade Jos et löydä rauhaa itsestämme on turhaa etsiä sitä muualta.
