decent grinder for blade work?

Recommended Posts

Any opinions on tis grinder for use in blade work? This is a Rutland carbide tool grinder for sale. Its a nice little machine and seems to be in great shape. The motor is .5 hp @ 3450 rpm. Nice and smooth! It has a nice stand also

Do a great job sharpening your lathe bits but alas I fear it will not do much in the way of knife work.

Thanks for the replys, it was just something that looked nice, and I figured I'd ask more experienced folk what they thought. Im just keeping an eye open for equipment while I look for a place that I can setup shop in and start playin.

IMHO i agree with all the above..

You want a 2 or 3 wheel "belt"sander type that fits on a table link area.not a poratble hand belt sander you would use doing floors..

something like a Bader or Burr King is what id go for..

Burr King 960 a great machine..ill have 2 of them yet.Im useing the bigger 1272 with a 5 hp ..lol but few need a beast like me.i can turn over 1/2 inch of metal red hot ..

but in reality a nice belt sand with wheels and the ability to use a slack belt for handles or putting on a edge is nice

just my 2 bahts worth ...(baht=thai $)
