I recently purchased this book:

It has some stunning work in it, and more photos than three of the Knives annual publications put together.

 

I recommend it. Great for inspiration/ideas . . . and it definitely keeps you humble.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have seen that book in the book shop and am humbled by the work as well. I looked for work by names I recognized (was blown away) and carefully placed it back on the shelf. The distance between what is in that book and what I am struggling with, is so great, I might not be encouraged.

I have to be a bit careful looking at stuff like that. I get discouraged pretty easily. Knowing how far away I am makes me feel almost ashamed that I'm pretentious enough to call myself a bladesmith.

 

Of course, sometimes I see things on this forum that do just about the same thing. My poor widdle ego draws a fine line between inspiration, and depression. :P
