Andrew C.
I really like that. It's very technical, and quite elegant. I'd love to swing that thing around. Thanks for sharing! Hogan Baker
I think it looks great! I hope that the buyer commissions a sheath from you, it would make a crazy set. Alan Longmire
Ben, you've gone up a level! I salute you, sir! The pierce and pass-through at the pommel is insane, and I mean that in the best possible way. Great job on the fishtail scroll too, I bet that was a right bugger to polish! Ben Potter
Thanks for the kind words. Here is a picture of it in hand so you can get an idea of it's size (I am about 7' 10' ) Did yo made whole guard from one piece or metal. No. the guard is actually three pieces welded together. How much does it weigh . I think that the whole package is really pretty cool , do you have a sheath planned ? It weights 1lb 12oz. or 800g. I haven't planned a scabbard but I have plenty of ideas, but that will be up to the buyer. Great job on the fishtail scroll too, I bet that was a right bugger to polish! TRUE THAT What kind of metal is the top hard guard with all the metal engraving? The rivets are brass and the guard is steel. Doug Lester
That's a fantastic looking sword. I think that most people don't know that it doesn't have to have a full basket hilt to be a cutless, not to mention that it is not necessarily a naval (as opposed to navel ) weapon. I never pictured one with a thumb ring, though it does make sense with a sword weighed more towards a slashing weapon. Kevin Colwell
Ben - I have liked everything I have seen of yours, but this is definitely a jump in skill. The carving in both wood and steel are great. Did you use power carving tools for the steel, or did you just tap away with engravers? I am truly impressed. I am beginning on the ground floor with learning to carve, and I am just beginning to appreciate the skill and time it took to make this. salute! kc please visit my website http://www.professorsforge.com/ “Years ago I recognized my kinship with all living things, and I made up my mind that I was not one bit better than the meanest on the earth. I like your photos showing different views...and the one in hand to show it's relation... too often we only see a side view of work and don't get a complete picture... you are doing an equally good job of presenting yourself... dick
