Quarter mokume cross pendant

I've been playing with making mokume for a month or so, this was the first piece I got to stick together that was large enough for making a pendant. The whole thing is random pattern, just folded several times, welded, fold again... I polished it, but left a few black spots in the middle. After soaking in boiled down vinegar overnight the copper developed a nice brown patina, giving a great contrast with the nickel.

That's beautiful =D.

My FIRST ever 100% original creation in metal was a coin mokume pendant for my wife. It helped grease the wheels for all the acquisitions to come in my pursuit of bladesmithing lol.

Anyhow, again...nice work. Coin mokume can be an excercise in frustration for sure lol. Sometimes they stick...sometimes they don't. I made the mistake on mine of using nickels in the mix. It turned out...but man, what a fight!

good stuff. Mokume from coins is a lot of fun. I used it for the butt-cap for my first few knives. This stuff can become really beautiful if you take it just a little farther. seriously the sort of thing that can suck you in.

good job.

Hey grant, hust looked at some of the suff on your etsy page. Those rings are something I'm wanting to make. Being a homeschooler, I've been wanting to make my own class ring, I mean, how cool would that be? Oh yeah, and I already have an order, from my sister, for a heart pendant (of course) now I know what I'm doing for her birthday.
