man, I really love the work you do. You have a great eye for detail, and a serious command of your technique.

thanks for sharing, and for trying to keep tradition alive.

Excellent! Can you tell us more about your methods? I am especially interested to know what method you used to back your work with while chiselling the relief and when cutting out.

Dan, just ask whatever you want, show me your details questions. i guess when you read some my other post here, i think you will get the general ideal about everything.

In fact, for this kinds of work, do not use the back relief method, or we say no back repousse method, only chasing, or what we can say, it is like wood carving. we dig out the metal we do not want. we keep the pattern we need. for the openwork method, most of craftsman use the jigsaw help, ( a jigsaw can cut angles, corners and shapes quickly and precisely) but here what im trying to show is a little different.

Here is a very important pics for your understanding the openwork method.

and under the copper, that's still sealingwax inside.

Last, anyother kinds of the methods are you asking?

Charles,

so the sealing wax is hard enough not to deform as you pierce the metal correct?

Thanks for showing... its always a learning experience...biggrin.gif

Dick,

We can say yes, but not for the one whithout practice.

in fact, sometimes, it is not hard enough, especially when the hot summer. so there need the craftsman to have a more practice.
