Folded Steel

In my thoughts on forging I was wondering if you took a bar of say 1095 and folded it repeatedly.

Would you get a hada the way a Japanese folding tamahagane would?

 

yes fold lenthways then sideways in alternating pattern remember Tamahagane is softer to work than modern steel and gains strenth as it is worked were our stuff is very dence to start with thers is more like working

You will get a pattern yes, but it will look different than tamahagane.

The weld line (interface) is what will show rather than a variation in chemistry due to slag and other impurities in addition to the weld lines.
