It is made from plate iron, do you want some more detail pictures?

Yeah I like the top one too. How is the handle done? is it stacked like washers or is it wrapped and glued with the thin strip? Very cool looking either way... thanks,biggrin.gif I like the birch bark sheath too...

It is stacked and then clench end of stud, without glue.

Wow! I've been wanting to try a stacked bark handle for a long time. I love the way you worked in the wood on the ends. How do you go about harvesting the bark. I think Bo Bergmans suggests taking the bark in the spring and it will be easier to peel from logs because the sap is up.

I harvest bark from dry trees, in many cases it is already wood rotten but bark is still OK.
