J.S. Hill
Aldo, You should post the spec. sheet for each type of steel and the current batch here so that you don't have to keep sending it out to everyone. BTW, would like to know the specs. for the 1075, 1095, and future W2 flat bar stock. Especially the manganese contents of each. Definitely an order pending! Thanks, Shannon
Aldo
As you wish Shannon, The 1095 is Carbon .99 Manganese .42 and .14 Chrome. I do not have the traces on this. I picked this Chem. over 9 billets they had on the floor. It was the lowest Mang. they had and these 3 ingredients were my main concern. The 1075 is Carbon .76 Mang .35 Chrome.13 Sil .24 Ni.090 Mo. .015. We were hoping to get a Water Hardening Carbon that was listed with .75 to .80 Carbon and.15 to .25 Mang, but the only thing on the floor at the time was a priority smelt for a company that had it made with a Mang. of .38. I thought this would be the best we could do at the time. All the material is pickled and annealed as well. Soft as butter for the stock removers and no clean up if you plan on making Damascus. I do have it mind to do a smelt with a lower Mang. content. I was considering a W-2 with a Carbon between .75 and .80 for next years smelt. Would love your input. The W-2 coming in December was formulated with C = 0,90-1,00%, Mn = 0,15-0,35%, V = 0,15-0,25% Cr = 0.1% max (aiming as low as possible). These are, of course, the targets. We hope for the mang to stay under .20 and the V about the same but it is still not an exacting science. Brian, we should be listing all the pricing on Monday on the web sight. By the way, we do plan on sending Certs. with all of the orders we send out and we also want to make sure that when a new batch comes in that it is tagged separately from any others we have in stock at the time. If you are content with what we gave you prior and I can offer it I certainly will.
