DavidM
Just started packing up the shop. We are moving to Wallkill NY at the end of the month. Anybody up in that area?
Geoff S
That's where home is for me. I am away at school, but I should be back during the summer.
Todd Gdula
I'm across the Hudson and a bit North in Dutchess County. I'm guessing about an hour away, maybe a bit less. -Todd www.toddblades.com "Geometry says how sharp, steel says how long." - Roman Landes, Ashokan 2009 "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." - George Orwell
Sam Salvati
I'm 1.5 hours away. Hogan Baker
Thats like 20 minutes from me. Actually I share a forge with Geoff, but I am not at college. ~Hogan "Stale water is poor drink. Kevin Colwell
You will be 90 miles from me, too. Also, you will be right near Ashokan Center, which is where one of the more enjoyable bladesmith gatherings happens each year (supposedly, it is the only one I have ever been to). Next year's them is SWORDS AND SWORDMAKING (AND PROBABLY SOME SWORDPLAY, TOO). Hope to meet you soon. kc please visit my website http://www.professorsforge.com/ “Years ago I recognized my kinship with all living things, and I made up my mind that I was not one bit better than the meanest on the earth. Kevin Colwell
Hogan - where are you, if you don't mind? You must be close to me, also. There had been some potential of a gathering of us sorts in CT near Thanksgiving. I don't know if it is still going to happen. I will keep checking. Sam Salvati may know about this, too. kc please visit my website http://www.professorsforge.com/ “Years ago I recognized my kinship with all living things, and I made up my mind that I was not one bit better than the meanest on the earth. DavidM
Awesome. Maybe we can arrange some sort of gathering. Maybe a smelt/barbecue.
Todd Gdula
Awesome. Maybe we can arrange some sort of gathering. Maybe a smelt/barbecue. THAT sounds like an outstanding idea. I'd be happy to bring my profound ignorance to help out at a smelt. While we're at it maybe we can get Sam to take the cinnamon challenge again... Shall we shoot for this Spring? David, let us know when you're moved in and we can all start deciding on location, etc. -Todd www.toddblades.com "Geometry says how sharp, steel says how long." - Roman Landes, Ashokan 2009 "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." - George Orwell
Sam Salvati
Never again!!! Kevin Colwell
As a Texan from a cattle ranching family, I am certain I can make a better barbecued beef brisket than anyone north of Amarillo (and even if I can't, I am required by Texan honor to claim that I can). However, I can't smelt my way out of a paper bag. So, if we do get together, I know which job should be mine. kc please visit my website http://www.professorsforge.com/ “Years ago I recognized my kinship with all living things, and I made up my mind that I was not one bit better than the meanest on the earth. DavidM
Trying to pack up the shop. I think i have enough railroad spikes to make knives for the entire population of Wallkill. Debating whether or not to haul them out there.
Todd Gdula
Trying to pack up the shop. I think i have enough railroad spikes to make knives for the entire population of Wallkill. Debating whether or not to haul them out there. If it helps you make up your mind I've got a couple dozen or so that you can have when we get together eventually. I don't use them anymore 'cause I couldn't get a spike to harden if I quenched it in Viagra. I'm not buying that they have more than a point or two of carbon... Anyway, I was only hanging onto them to throw in a smelt someday... Just lemme know, they're here. -Todd www.toddblades.com "Geometry says how sharp, steel says how long." - Roman Landes, Ashokan 2009 "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." - George Orwell
DavidM
Three horse drawn plows. the moving truck is going to be full of my scrap crap. lol
DavidM
Got the truck this afternoon. Managed to get all the shop stuff in it just a few minutes ago. Made the mistake of trying to lift a recycling tote full of scrap. I think I pulled something in my leg or back....hurts all the way from my calf through my hip and halfway up my back. I love moving. Should be leaving by Wednesday morning. Get to deal with all the crazies on the road. Wish me luck.

Krystina M.
I'm here now. Looks like its going to take quite a while before I can get a forge running. The previous tenants destroyed the garage. I have to clean/fix EVERYTHING.
DavidM
Got the internet installed finally. Managed to clean enough of a spot in the garage to setup the forge. As soon as I find a job to pay for fuel....I'll be back in business.
