Laverstock seax, my version

Recommended Posts

Finally I have been able to start on the seax I have asked so many so much about. Petr has already beaten me almost to the finish line but I still cant wait to see what ours both look like when they are done.

I started with 1/2" thick x 8" long bit of shear steel that I made with Ric and three hours latter ended up with a seax!

I ordered wax today for the silver castings and will make as close to the written text on it as I can. I have a nice supply of 200 year old ash as well to make the wooden sheath out of.

Thats all for now

I was talking to somebody who finds it much more sensible (both from a time and money investment) to do all the wax carving and then just ship out the actual casting to a service. I guess not pure 'soul authorship'... but appealing.

Well i am happy to be able to get back onto this project. Life and business surely do try keep you away from passions.

Im casting the silver tonight and will hopefully have a finished product by the end of the week.
