I have decided what I am going to do for this KITH.

I am doing a Japanese kitchen knife.

The designs used today date back hundreds and hundreds of years.

I will also make a set of chop sticks.

I have a small rolling mill so I hope to make them out of Damascus.

I'm going to start after the hammer in next week.

I think that I will do the knife with a wrought iron jacket and a tool steel core.

1.I would really like to know the due date/final day of the kith. like when do we have to ship it off to the new owner?

2. I would also like to know if we can make anything as i have already started a pretty heavy duty EDC.

3. How do you ship a knife without it getting held at border?

Wow not sure what happened

Mathew

Your EDC will be fine you just need to make something to accompany it. This KITH makes you be a little creative. The dates are 1apr to 31 jul. I don't think we had any trouble with international shipping with the last KITH. Its a lot of fun near the end jump in its a blast. I think the guidelines to this knife in the hat are on page 4 of this post.

would a ring be acceptable?

What kind of ring? Not sure that fits the theme we are looking for. The second object need to complete a functional set. example knife and fork, knife and hawk EDC functional set.

it would be a brutal ring. heavy... probably 4140 and somehow represent the knife to go with it. ill probably do a large camping knife along with a smaller EDC knife

I like it!!!

Well, I think I'm getting on track here.

I want to build a version of a 1740s-ish French plug bayonet based on those used during the occupation of the Fortress of Louisbourg. My thought, though, is to do a plug "dagger".... shorter and thinner than its predecessor, and with a slightly re-designed handle and guard, and then give the whole package a quasi-period correct "frontier tracker" makeover with an integrated shooter's bag and customized scabbard/sheath along with all the accessories. I'm due for a visit to The Fortress where I can speak with the muckity-mucks about this concept and do a bit of research.

What say the muckity-mucks here of this idea?

Gentlemen,

I must withdraw my name from the KITH for this year. I will not have time to finish my projects as I and my unit have been ordered to active duty in OEF. The time I have left at home is going to be spent with the family. Maybe I can get in on one later next year.

I am enjoying seeing everyones progress.

I am still without a shop or home of our own so I am going to have to withdraw from this KITH.Sorry folks. We have had the place we are trying to buy under contract since 28 Dec 2011, but this short sell is taking forever! :(
