Eagle suspensions leaf springs

I just picked up some beautiful cut offs of leaf spring steel just wondering if anybody

Knows what steel they use at Eagle suspensions for there leaf springs? Thanks

it is 5160 or pretty close to it if anyone is interested , confirmed from the plant

I've been working with some cut offs from a local place that turned out to be 9260, which works completely different than the 5160 I was using before. I hope it really is 5160.

From what I've learned from makers who have used both 5160 and 9260 they heat treat pretty much the same. Just to be safe, I would temper three times for two hours each cycle just to be safe. The high silicon content of the 9260 can promote retained austinite despite the moderate carbon content. 9260 is also shallower hardening than 5160 but not as shallow as 1060. I did a clay quench on a 9260 blade and got a nice quench line after sanding it out and etching in ferric chloride.
