I have been given an old power saw blade abour 3 mil thick and some blades from a tractor slasher...Would any of this steel be any good to forge...I have no idea what sort of steel it would be. I did make a stock removal skinner from the power saw blade and it quenched and tempered into a usuable blade. I have pretty much only used 5160 to date.

saw blades are often made from 75 Ni 8,

which makes them a good bladesteel, very bright and silvery looking in damascus-steel

about slashers I do not know...

Thanks, Just got to find another steel to mix in with the saw steel. It is a very old blade that was found at an old farm shed.
