Very cool, Sam. I love mechanical hammers.

 

Putting the linkage near the floor keeps the weight low, good for stability. And it has an absurdly small foot print. Having the spring behind the post is a nice idea. If the spring should fail (the well known Little Giant grenade effect) the post should deflect some of the pieces nearest the operator.

 

That is a really clever idea, now I want to build a new hammer :angry: .

Does she rock when in use? Maybe need a wider base of more mass.

 

I think making one in a 5 pound weight that runs at 300 BPM max would be good for drawing tangs and small fast welds.
