Geoff Keyes
I got this reply from Foredom a year or so ago Thank you for your interest in our products. I recommend using our 1/3 HP TX motor kit TX300. It has our most powerful TX motor with a foot pedal speed control for hands free use. It also comes with our H.30 chuck style handpiece that accepts a wide range of shank sizes including all the ones you have from your Dremel. Other knife makes use and recommend this kit. I have attached a link below to our web page where you can check it out. I have found this kit available on Ebay, but not for much less than retail. You might get lucky on craigslist, my Father-in-law found one at a garage sale for $20 . Geoff "The worst day smithing is better than the best day working for someone else." I said that. If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly. - - -G. K. Chesterton So, just for the record: the fact that it does work still should not be taken as definitive proof that you are not crazy. Patrick Hastings
Where can I find the best deal on a Foredom tool? Any other pre-purchase information would be appreciated. Thanks. Not to be trouble maker, but what are you going to do with it. There are many types of rotary tools and each as an optimized niche... DJPratt
I gotta say i got a SR series Foredom from Riogrande.com and while they were not the cheapest price out there i love the customer service there. I had some issues with the chuck on the hand piece when i got it and explained the issue and my time constraints to them and they just mailed me a replacement part and told me not to worry about it. Any place that is will to give me that level of service will get my business and my recommendation! ~~DJ
Don Abbott
Not to be trouble maker, but what are you going to do with it. There are many types of rotary tools and each as an optimized niche... Regards, Patrick Well, I have gouged around with a Dremmel for years, and I would like something with more control. Basically handle carving in wood, bone, horn, etc. Also, I have played around a bit with some non-ferrous jewelry and such. Some of the stuff I've seen here done in steel is amazing, but I would definitely have to work up to that.
