Geoff Keyes
This is a pretty simple project that I sawed out of some leftover 1095 from my EDC's. Since I'm going to keep it, I used it as a test bed for some decorative ideas. It's a lot more substantial than I thought it would be. It's .1250 stock, I'm thinking that you could go to .090, maybe even .075 and still have plenty of stiffness at this size. This beast will chop bones, I'm pretty sure. Right now it's got this razor edge, it wants to bite a finger off. It's cut me at least 3 times. The blade has this high pitched silvery ring to it, I think it's laughing at me. JJ Simon
That's really cool. Love the copper combo with the handle. It looks like it fits the hand really nicely too.
Geoff Keyes
Yeah, fits nice. The copper should patina out nice as well. Now I need to make a new knife block, this one is too big for the one I have. Geoff "The worst day smithing is better than the best day working for someone else." I said that. Mike Johnston
I love the whole package. I have been procrastiating on making another cleaver for my oldest daughter (the one I made a few years ago was WAY to heavy for her). I have some 1065V thats been working out well on everything i've used it on including a 7" blade boning knife. Thanks for the kick in the pants to start. mike desensi
that thing looks beautiful solid and hungery!!!! I made a copy of a "english" cleaver and got bit a few times , that may be part of the price to the cleaver godz!!!!<LOL> I think the grind angle has to be a td more appleseed shaped , like a axe somewhat to endure chopping but that type of edge will still shave and bite!!! good job!!! ~M~ Member: Cal Knives Practioner: Suio Ryu Iai Kenpo
