Hi all, please see my new makers mark.

Heres mine, Long time doberman pinscher owner, best breed ever... and now my shop mascot--

Here's my mark for Appleseed Sharpening Custom Blades. My initials inside an apple:

I chose to go with a nameas opposed to a glyph on reasonable advice about customers preference.20180404_161747-1224x1632.jpg

This has been a struggle for me, the majority of my 30 knives went out unmarked.

I would prefer to etch myself, but couldn't find anybody that makes the little masks.

Also had another (better?) idea for a name, but Gerhard Gerber Knives will have to do.....

After a false start I found a small company that does fine work with a laser, this is what I settled on:

I got mine when starting out from Ernie.

Haven't used it much since I started engraving mine. His are a very good product. I would recommend him to whoever wants to etch their own...

The first photo is etched using his mark.

The second is engraved using an electric CNC engraving tool.

By "little masks", do you mean stencils? If so, sign shops can make them.

Thanks for the suggestions, I checked out Ernie's site, will make a plan as soon as I have a way to make (and receive) international payments.

heres mine. the only thing i want to do is put my name on the other side of the blade, so it has a recognizable logo, but also a name to go with it. my only thing is i dont like big script on a blade, so finding a stencil small enough is pretty damn hard.

I designed myself a makers mark a while ago, but only recently used it on a blade. I'm going to see if I can get it in a stamp, this one was engraved on the blade, so it's not exact.

I like it a lot Faye though I prefer smaller marks.

Since we're at it, here's mine. It is 1/2" wide x 3/16" high. It was designed by a friend and produced by Infinity Stamps. I highly recommend this company, excellent service and product.

My humble addition.

My little little one man smithy (mostly blacksmithing & now working into blades) is called Florentine Fire. The art & craft of the Italian renaissance has been a inspiration to me since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Especially that originating in the city of Florence. So my mark is also a tribute to the city. Was adding a FF on either side, but it looked tacky.

Here´s mine:

Its the P and D of my name arranged in a monogram, the idea was to make a fairly neutral logo that can be used in modern and historical work.

ofcourse I forgot that stamps should be a mirror image at first and had to start again.<_<

Here it is hot stamped into a blade.

Mine is a simple 3 dot triangle to represent the Trinity. I do it on the blades only except for the curve backed buffalo horn bolsters that allso have it done via the pin workbuffalo skinner 3 pin bolster.jpg

Here is a first attempt at a makers mark, I figured before my first sold knife goes to the post office tomorrow I should have some sort of mark on it, so I took a thin square file and made an M. It’s a little rough but with some practice it should look great

Finally getting around to posting this:

BTW if anyone is looking for a way to make stencils, I found the Brother P-touch personal label printer with a stencil ribbon does a pretty good job. It's probably no where as good as adhesive vinyl stencils, but it allows some pretty good detail as it is a thermo-laser printer.
