Recommended Posts

Ok guys fitted the handle today. Put a thin leather gasket and it is a tight fit. Will have this done by the New deadline.

All I have to do is make a plug for the top.

Great work.

It has been a pleasure seeing this one being born.

Well, THAT came out well. B)

I've never threaded antler either, I just make it a locking taper fit. I may be rethinking that on the next one...

What are you doing to the maple for a finish?

Thanks Don and Alan,

Alan.. seeing your hawks is what inspired me to make one. I have Tru Oil gun stock finish. That maple is fantastic stuff..kind of mesmerising.

I was not sure how the threaded antler would go and must admit I was a bit surprised it actually worked..I just kept going forward and back bit by bit and took it easy.

Hi Guys.. Thanks for all the great comments and support on this project. Here is my wife Stacey sewing the leather under the head...I could not come this far to have my dodgy sewing let things down.

Anyhow all done.. At last... I even tried it out with a celebratory rum.. Works a treat...it is dark now so I will do a photo shoot tomorrow.

That really turned out well! That sounds lame but I can't seem to find the words that describe how great a job you did on the hawk! B)
