about 8 1/2" o/a, 1/8th 1095, double edged with double hamon, fully fileworked tang, carved ebony scales and brass pins. The sheath was a bit challenging - copper brazed together and relieved to fit round the scales, covered in lacquered moroccan goat skin, with a nikel silver bead round the throat and a sterling silver tip...

let me know what you think...

thanks guys - Richard, yeah the sheath is lined with leather, but it is only a really tight fit at the throat, where the nickel silver bead grips the edges of the ricasso - there is a thin piece of leather glued to the copper sheath and leather cover and liner to neaten up the top of the throat, and that provides the grip, and the knife slides in with a satisfying little click. got the idea from japanese saya which don't contact the blade, but grip the top and bottom edge of the habaki

That looks great! the file work is a pretty sweet touch. is there a loop or anything on the back side of the sheath?

That is lovely, I love the slight asymmetry of the blade, and the sheath is excellent.... not to forget the carving, which is top notch.

That´s a really well made sgian. Unusual, but very elegant and unique. I like it a lot.

While regarding your Skye-sgian I can´t get a certain grin off my face, because I just got to know that my lovely wife is going to take me with her for a trip to your wonderful island as a birthday present next month.

the way the knife interacts with the sheath is almost pornographic!

Beautiful work.
