jake cleland
i did a few of these about 10 or 15 years ago, both as feathers and birds wings, and a few weeks back i saw a sketch on David DellaGardelle's facebook page which brought me back to the theme: and beside the basic sketch: blade is 6 3/8ths, 3/16ths thick, clay coated and water quenched 1095, with an antler bolster and a box wood burl handle, and it's about ready for the polish and carving/inlay Jake Cleland - Skye Knives www.knifemaker.co.uk "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them." C.Anderson
As always I love the lines of your knives!!One question on this one...are you leaving the bolster alone (meaning square to the blade as it is in the photograph)? I notice in the drawing that it's rounded, and meets the edge at the choil/finger guard area. That seems a lot more natural to me. Slow is smooth, smooth is steady, steady is fast, fast is deadly... tsterling
Nice one, Jake. Looking forward to the carving. Wish I could be there to watch the magic moment when you oil the wood.
