Richard van Dijk 202
Hi All I have had this knife laying around for a long time but was never happy about the guard/bolster area so I just put it aside, then a customer came in the workshop and expressed an interest in the knife and wanted it since it was as good as finished I said ok and started to work at it and changed the bolster area. This is the end result and I am pleased with it and sorry to see it go now. Forged from 1095 & 15N20 steel The blade consists of 3 different bars; spine of the blade is 34 layers, centre 44 layers and cutting edge 144 layers. Blade is differentially heat treated The total length of the knife is, 11.2 inch (28 cm)., the blade measures 6.2inch (15.5 cm) Fittings are made from copper with a black patina, over time this will wear off on the high spots, giving it a beautiful aged look; the handle is made bocote.
