James R.Fuller
Last night I got home from work at about 5:30 and went straight to the forge. After about 4.5 hours of forging, I then annealed the blade in sand over night. This morning I got up good and early and began grinding. I've only got the rough grinding done, but I thought I'd post a pics as I go. As always, your criticism is welcome, And I appreciate your time! -=James Fuller=- -=JF=-
Miles Hebbard
Look like you've got it nice and straight, pics a bit grainy, but your bevels look nice and even... Good job so far! James R.Fuller
I'll try and take some better pics after work. Thanks for the compliments! It is SO hard to keep those grinds straight on a double edged blade... -=JF=-

Justin Mitchell
LOVE IT. I plan to make a short sword almost identical to that profile.
Dave Wood
Indeed! From what I can tell it looked very nice so far! The shape reminds me of the dagger the ring raith's in Lord of the Rings use. Men are just boys with bigger toys!
Miles Hebbard
You are so right there, James, wait till someone orders a maching pair! That can age a person quickly! patience and taking your time helps! Just remember, when heat treating do it in a deep metal tube or bucket! Tip first, get it in quickly, or it'll warp badly... (Speaking from experiance!) After all that work you don't want to end up with a banana shaped blade! To become old and wise... You first have to survive being young and foolish! Ikisu.blogsot.com. James R.Fuller
I worked on carving out the guard in wax this morning, and I think I did a pretty ok job... Any thoughts on this? -=JF=-
Alan Longmire
You don't mess around, do you? I like it. The pointier the better. And I totally agree with Miles. I have a pair of 43" cut-and-thrust blades in progress that are supposed to match...
