John_C 3 Report post Posted January 28, 2014 Thought I would post up some of my research on wood found in the middle east area incase someone else out there is as unfamiliar as I am. Let me know if I need to add or remove anything. There are many types of woods actually and I am only listing the ones I have seen and/or can be purchased easily (ebay, alphaknifesupply, home depot, etc): pistachio cedar pine mesquite maple olive walnut oak (white oak) sycamore willow poplar hope this helps! GEzell 106 Report post Posted January 28, 2014 It would be nice to find a source for some desert acacia, also known as shittim wood... I see a lot of horn being used on middle-eastern knives also.
