Alan, that's why I thought that even with all the corrosion some of the pieces were interesting, e.g. the guards and pommel were so slender and the socket of the lance had some interesting traces of overlay technique.

 

Phil, the third picture is a piece from a sword handle.

I love that wolfstooth spear, especially the close up photo you took of it. You can see what I observed in my own spear where the edge layer decayed away from the teeth also evident in that spear, that the 'teeth' have a definate slope to them. In your photo sloping up at the top of the tooth.

 

Thank you very much for sharing your photos. It's so hard to find viking artifacts to look at in the United States that I had to start my own collection and import my own to examine !
