Richard van Dijk
Hi All After making the couple of friction folders I decided to take it a step further. I really enjoyed making this Navaja but it really played havoc with my neck and left shoulder since I will have surgery on it a bit later on in the month. Blade forged from a file 4 inch, brass and deer antler handle, total length 9 inch, closed 5.25 inch Richard Edited January 6, 2015 by Richard van Dijk Richard van Dijk My link
Kevin Colwell
Richard, that is one of the nicest folding knives I have seen in some time. I really dig it! please visit my website http://www.professorsforge.com/ “Years ago I recognized my kinship with all living things, and I made up my mind that I was not one bit better than the meanest on the earth. I said then and I say now, that while there is a lower class, I am in it; while there is a criminal element, I am of it; while there is a soul in prison, I am not free.” E. V. M. Cochran
After seeing this fine work I googled Navaja knives and see several examples but I cannot find any examples of the mechanisms. Would you mind sharing a sketch or description for those of us who don't know. Michael Cochran
Richard van Dijk
The spring is on the back of the handle, when the little lever is lifted up it unlocks the blade so it can close. Hope that is clear Richard Richard van Dijk My link

Alan Longmire
I love it! Did you give it the traditional racheting thingy on the heel of the blade for that blood-curdling sound when you open it? Best wishes on the surgery, too.

B. Norris
Really like this one Richard. Your treatment of the antler and the color of the spring are masterful. I too hope that it make a sinister, ratcheting, noise when opened! Richard van Dijk
Thanks Guys I am sorry to say it does not make the ratcheting noise, the next one probably will. Richard Richard van Dijk My link
