Grooved knife

Recommended Posts

Hey!

I made groove scraper (pictures of that tool in use I made later- but it is very simple) and try to do some blade with it.

I success that at first attempt so I use it for small slipjoint knife.

Awesome work! I'm curious to see what the scraper looks like, but you did a fantastic job with it.

Wow, I really like that one! The shape and style are great but, the detail you made with the scraper for a grab point instead of fingernail nick, really sets the whole knife off!

I too want to see the pics of the scraper!

Very, very nice.

Something about simple folders and stag.

Would love to see the grooving tool also.

Excuse quality - there is bad light for taking pictures in my shop.

I forge scraper from ball bearing casing (it is made to have some frictional resistance) I made there hole to attach distance stick but unforunatelly i broke scraper there with too thick stick.

And now some scraping, it it very simple first few moves I do with wood (or something else scrap material) template to get groove depth enough for hold scraper in.

Then I continue until groove has desired depth- if you want deep one is good smooth out bumps during work wih needle file (or sandpaper on hard wood piece)

I want now try to forge more scrapers in different sizes and shapes.

Great knife! I also love the grooving.
Funny, I have a sketch of a folder I drew about a year ago that looks exactly like your knife!

that is wonderful! the knife looks great, and the scraper is a true resource.

Are you using it on the push or on the pull?

It looks like a push sort of thing, but I think pulling is easier, so I hope the answer is push...

thanks for sharing.

¨Hey! Excuse my late answer, I was for some days out of internet range.

.

Do you put a liner against the antler?

- Yes I rather use it.

Are you using it on the push or on the pull?

-This one is only for pull, but work surprisingly fast- one groove at this knife take about 5 minutes scraping but then about half hour polishing with sandpaper on wood stick and needle files...

thanks. glad to know it was for pull-scraping. I find that a lot easier, in general.
