Sword scabbard and wire wrap handle

Recommended Posts

Here is some work I just finished for my blunted re-enactment sword. The sword it self is a commercial product, so not much to say about that.

I made a wooden core for the scabbard, and then covered it with leather.

The scabbard mouth I lined with lamb skin, I will soak this in oil so the blade is oiled every time it is drawn or put back in the scabbard.

The scabbard fittings are made from brass (here with the original leather handle).

And a close up

I finished it all by wire wrapping the sword handle.

And finally the original handle from a 10th century sword found at Søndersø, Denmark.

That scabbard is the business, and the lambs wool idea is sheer genius, I love it!
