Equipment transport help

If you can get it to a freight terminal at either end it will be MUCH cheaper than getting door to door delivery. Aside from that, call around to freight companies and get a quote. You will need to have accurate information about the dimensions and weight of your shipment to get good quotes, so do your homework first, it will save you money in the long run.

Quite a few years ago, I needed to move some equipment. The seller was willing to deliver to the terminal and I could pick up at the terminal on my end. Old Dominion Freight was cheaper than everyone else I called, by a factor of ten. Hundreds, instead of thousands.

I used ABF's UPack service when moving from Nebraska back to Virginia. Price was great and no need to get the equipment to a terminal. They drop a trailer at your location, you load it, they pick it up. Billing is based on the linear feet of trailer you occupy. They drive to you and drop the trailer again, you unload and they pick it up. I hired a local group to do the loading and then my father in law assisted in unloading. I didn't have heavy shop equipment at the time, but did have mowers and other heavy, greasy tools etc., since they don't have to load or unload, it isn't a problem.

Let us know who you go with and how they do, always good info to have...
